Well Jay, Mommy did it again...so here is where you are in your ninth AND tenth months of life!
You are learning so many new things!!! You recognize a lot of words; here is a list:
Mommy
Daddy
Maggie
bath
dance
clap
all done
more
milk
You started dancing a few weeks ago, and it is seriously the cutest thing in the history of the world!!! Any time someone says "dance" you jiggle your shoulders and shake your booty! So cute!! You can also clap when we ask you to! Sometimes you'll wave when we ask you to, but mostly you clap when we say "wave". Last week, everyone was clapping in church, and Daddy whispered "clap, Jay" and you clapped, too!
You are starting to eat big people food. Sometimes, you still like baby food, but mostly you want to eat what Mommy and Daddy are eating. Maggie is soooo excited that you are eating grown-up food now, because you drop a lot of it. You went through a phase for a couple of days when you would spit out all the baby food we gave you. It was horribly messy! So Mommy gave you some of her chicken, and you gobbled it up! You've eaten a lot of different foods now, but your favorite thing is still Cheerios! You eat a lot of Cheerios every day (so does Maggie).
You have eight teeth now! Your mouth is symmetrical! You may not get any more teeth for a while (here's hoping), but you do a very good job biting with the eight that you have!
Since you started making such a mess with your food (you liked to spit it into your hand and rub it into your hair), you've started taking baths every night. You LOVE baths!!! You like to throw your squirt bottle out of the tub, and you want Mommy to throw it back to you. We played this one night, then the next night you remembered and wanted to play it again. You're a very smart little boy!!!
You love to crawl all over our house. We had to baby-proof our house very quickly once you started pulling yourself up on the furniture! Right after you and Mommy got back from visiting Great-Grandpa in Michigan, you pulled a heavy glass bowl off of the side table and it shattered all around you. Fortunately, Mommy got to you before you moved and none of it cut you. Then the next day, you pulled a ceramic bowl out of the cupboard and banged it on the floor and broke it. Again, praise God you weren't hurt at all! Mommy and Daddy did a lot of sweeping and vacuuming that week! Now you have a cupboard in the kitchen that has only plastic and rubber things in it, and you're allowed to play in your cupboard as much as you want to. You like to pull everything out and climb in, but it takes you a while and usually gives Mommy enough time to fix dinner! We keep the bathroom door and the doors to Mommy and Daddy's room and the guest room closed, and you can go wherever you want to in the rest of the house. Oh, except the laundry room, because you love to mess with Maggie's dog food. Maggie runs to us and tells on you when you get into her food.
You have also started to "fake cry" when you want your way. The face you make is really funny!
You've had quite a few boo-boos, now that you're crawling everywhere. You mostly get boo-boos on your forehead. This week, you fell into the corner of the wall and got a huge purple goose-egg that even bled a little. You were so sad and Mommy and Daddy were so sad, but you didn't cry very long. We think you're going to grow up to be a pretty tough kid!
You traveled a lot in your ninth and tenth months! In June, you and Mommy flew up to Michigan to go to cousin Kayla's wedding. We stayed with Great-Grandpa and got to see every single one of our Michigan family members...there are 49 of us now! Then in July, we drove up to North Carolina and spent three weeks with Grandpa and Grandma Tilley. Even Maggie got to go! We had so much fun visiting with them and with Aunt Sarah and Aunt Hannah and Uncle Chris!
You learn names very quickly! You were only around Aunt Hannah and Aunt Sarah for a day before you knew the difference between them! We would say "where's Aunt Hannah" and you would look right at her, then we'd say "where's Aunt Sarah" and you would look right at her! You really are a VERY smart little boy!!!
It's so hard to believe that in just six weeks, you will be one year old! You are growing up so fast, and we are so proud of you! Every day you get sweeter and more fun. We love you so much, sweet boy!!!
