Election Day

This is a little late, but we had fun taking you to the poll to vote with us in the Republican primary on January 31! We think you made a very good choice and are praying that you voted for our next President! Daddy held you and explained all about voting to you. You listened very intently. The voting place people all thought you were very cute, and they even gave you your own "I voted" sticker. You'll get to vote for yourself in the Presidential election of 2032! (You'll miss the 2028 election by just a few months, and you'll probably be as frustrated as your daddy was when the same thing happened to him back in 1992!)

Super Bowl!

You liked watching the Super Bowl with Daddy! Last year, he said "Next year, I get to watch this with my son!!!" You're going to be much better at understanding football than Mommy is. You'll probably be teaching me about it before too much longer.

Five Months!

Dear Jay,

You are five months old!

You are learning so many new things! You can now roll over, even though you only did it for one day (you did it all day long, every time we put you on your belly), and apparently, that was it. We think you're saying "Look. I showed you that I can do it. Why do I have to do it again???"

You're still not taking very long naps during the day (2-3 naps for about 15 minutes each), but you're sleeping a little better at night.

You are happiest whenever we take you outside. You LOVE watching cars drive by! Most days when Daddy gets home from work, he takes you outside to watch cars while Mommy finishes dinner. Mommy has started taking her computer outside and letting you sit in your swing while you watch the cars. It's a good deal for both of us.

You also love to be on your back on the floor. You much prefer the floor to your swing, or play yard, or pretty much anything else.

Maggie is quickly becoming your friend! If you're fussy, playing with Maggie almost always cheers you up! You like trying to put her ears, and legs, and tail in your mouth, and she takes it all in stride. She likes to kiss you on the lips, which Mommy thinks is gross and Daddy thinks is hilarious!

You are definitely recognizing your Mommy and Daddy more! Sometimes, you cry when you see Mommy leave the room (which makes Mommy's heart do flippy flopps!). Last month, Mommy was feeding you at a park with the nursing cover on, and Daddy walked by to ask Mommy a question, and you jumped and tried so hard to look at your Daddy when you heard his voice!

You're so strong! When you pinch us, it HURTS! You have been able to stand up with us holding you pretty much since you were born, but now you can do it with just leaning on the couch!

We think you are starting to teeth. We can't feel anything poking through your gums yet, but you drool like a Saint Bernard, and you usually calm down when we give you your cold teether to chew on. Maybe next month we'll have a tooth to report on! Here's you with your drool beard:

We love you so much Jay! Every single day, we love you more and more! You are God's special gift to us, and you are a blessing to us every single day! You are growing so fast, and it is so much fun to get to spend every day with you. Happy Five Month Birthday, Little Man!
