Bouncing!

I LOVE TO BOUNCE!!!!

Jay's first Easter

Doing some catch-up here...

We had so much fun for Jay's first Easter!  Jay got to go on THREE Easter egg hunts!

On the Saturday before Easter, we went to an Easter egg hunt at Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church.  Aunt Katie, Savanah, Hannamae, Gracie, and Grandma Linda joined us.  Right when the hunt was about to start, Mommy realized she didn't have her camera, and by the time she ran back to the stroller to get it, Daddy and Jay had already found two eggs!  There were lots and lots of kids there, so these were the only two eggs we found, but they were the best ones!  They were little froggies, and they had cars inside!

Daddy and Jay posed in the very spot where the coolest eggs ever were found.

Egg Hunt!!!

We did it!

Our little family.  With frog eggs.

Hangin' with my BFF Tad.

Cousins!  And eggs!

That's right, Gracie.  Look a the yellow egg while I eat your pink egg.

Oooh, pretty egg!
That night, Mommy dressed Jay up in his adorable Easter outfit and took pictures (while it was still clean). Mommy messed up and tried to rotate thee pictures using "paint", which screwed up the files' codes and now most of them are sideways.  Maybe Daddy can fix them???

Here is the "official" Easter picture:

And here are the outtakes:

On Sunday, we went to church to celebrate our Risen Lord with our church family.  After the service, we had brunch and fellowship while the kids had an Easter egg hunt.  Once again, Mommy missed it because she ran to the car to get the camera.  :(

Jay and his special friends, Paige and Belle.

Jay is very popular with the ladies!
After church, we went to Grandma and Papa's house for Easter lunch and a scavenger hunt extravaganza.  It was seriously so spectacular we were too busy to get many pictures, but imagine this...filing a balloon with helium and floating it up to a certain point next to a tree so that the code on the balloon matches the key on the tree to get your next clue.  Yep, Aunt Katie is pretty amazing!
Savanah gave me bunny ears!

Playing in the dirt, of course!  Good thing Mommy took those pictures yesterday!

Seven and Eight Months!

Dear Jay,

You are now eight months old, and mommy never even got around to posting about your seventh month!  I wonder what was keeping me so busy???

Here is your official seven month picture:

You turned seven months old on Grandpa Tilley's 62nd birthday!  We took a birthday picture for him:

This is one of Mommy's favorite outtakes.  You like to open your mouth wide when you're happy, and I'm trying to take as many pictures of that as I can while you're still doing that -- it's so cute!  Look at your right foot.  It's a blur; you're always trying to move move move!
It's bad when mommy forgets to update the blog on time, because now I can't remember what happened in month seven and what happened in month eight!  So this will be an update on months seven AND eight.

You now have SIX TEETH!  They are very very sharp, and you love to bite things, especially mommy and daddy!  Here is a picture that shows your new teeth!  You have one more on the top that has broken through, but isn't showing much yet.

The biggest news recently is that you are crawling!  You are crawling everywhere!!!  For a while, you were just scooting around a little bit, but then on April 27 (you were 7 months and 3 weeks old), you just took off!  You are much happier now that you can get where you want to go all on your own. Your favorite things to find are cords, trash cans, plastic bags and Maggie's dog food. We have had to baby-proof our house very quickly!   In fact, the drawer under the oven (the one that gets very hot when the oven is on!) is now duct-taped shut until further notice.  You were very frustrated when you realized that you couldn't open it any more.  (Mommy put on the duct tape after you pulled the drawer completely out; we were afraid you'd crawl in the hole and burn yourself.)

You're also starting to "cruise".  You pull yourself up on the furniture and walk around it, holding on.  You also "tripod" all the time, where you keep your feet and hands on the ground and lift your fanny up in the air. You're trying to stand and walk!
You're starting to babble a lot more now. You say "Ba Ba Ba Ba" all the time! You also like to growl...I think Daddy taught you that! Every once in a while, you'll say "mama" or "dada", but those words aren't necessarily directed towards us. Soon they will be!

You've had to stop napping in the car; it's just too hot here in Florida. So we're working in getting you to finally nap in your crib, but it hasn't been easy. You haven't napped in your crib since you were about two weeks old! You napped in your swing until you were around four months old, then you would only nap in mommy's arms until you were about six months old, then you would only nap in the car. You still nap really well in the car when we're driving somewhere, but it's too hot now to leave you in the car. (We never left you, we would leave the garage door open and open all the windows, and either read in the car with you or worked on projects in the laundry room with the door open.) But now we're working on naps in the crib. Grandma Linda got you down for a nap in your crib last Friday by reading to you from your Bible story book, and Mommy got you to take two or three crib naps over the weekend, but apparently you're done with that business.  We'll keep working on it...maybe next month's update will be all about your napping success!  :)

You are still a very good eater!  We learned the hard way that Mommy can't get away with just nursing you any more (still so sorry about that, little one!). You eat between one and two jars of baby food every day.  You'll eat pretty much everything we give you, but you really seem to love the bananas and applesauce Mommy made.  We're really hoping you stay such a good, non-picky eater!

You definitely know and love your mommy and daddy, but you also love to be held by EVERYONE!!!  You don't have any stranger anxiety at all -- you love being held and will let everyone hold you!  It makes people so happy to have a beautiful little baby reach out to be held.  You make people happy all the time!

And now, here is your official EIGHT MONTH picture!

You are such a smart little boy!  One of the rooms you love (and aren't allowed to be in) is mommy and daddy's bathroom.  We used to have a little ceramic trash can right inside the door, and you liked to play with it.  After only playing with it one time, I caught you crawling to the bathroom and reaching around the wall to grab the trash can.  You remembered that it was there!  You're also learning how to feed yourself "Puffs" and cookies, and just today, I saw you trying to peel the duct tape off of the oven; you knew it was keeping you from opening the oven door!

You are becoming more and more interactive every day.  When you want something that you can't reach, you look at us then you open and close your hand.  You know that mommy and daddy can reach it for you. You also have started grabbing our pants and our legs when you want us to pick you up.

Unfortunately, you're a biter!  You have beautiful teeth and you love to use them!  We're working on that.  You're doing much better about stopping when we catch you with your mouth wide open and say "Don't bite!"  You don't like it when we say "no" to you.

There is one thing I want to remember about you right now more than anything else. In fact, just thinking about it is so special that it makes me a little teary. Now that you can crawl, you do a very good job of playing with your toys all by yourself. In fact, sometimes you'll crawl down the hallway to your room just to play. Here's what is so awesome: no matter how much fun you're having with your toys, as soon as you see mommy or daddy, you always drop whatever you're playing with and speed-crawl over to us and lift up your arms to be picked up. Being held by mommy and daddy is better than any toy! And it makes our hearts so so happy.

We love you so much, Sweet Baby Jay!  You are a joy to everyone who sees you.  Just today, Mommy took you to Publix and while she was putting you in the cart, three elderly men came up to say "hi" to you and get a smile from you.  You make people happy everywhere you go.  You are such a wonderful little boy, and we are so happy God gave you to us!!!
